It was agreed by the committee of the ICB that the income from the 2008 Prix des Irlandais would be donated to charity. A cheque for €750 was presented to Concern in December and in February this year another cheque for the same amount was presented to local Brussels lad Niall Treacy, son of Michael and Mary Treacy.
Niall's charity was an African one (Millennium Promise) for which he and others participated in a sponsored cycle the length of the African continent from Egypt to South Africa in order to raise funds for this very worthy cause.

In response, Niall has the sent the ICB the following message,
Dear GolfersI would like to take the opportunity to thank the Irish Club of Belgium and the organisers of the Prix des Irlandaise for their very generous contribution. The generous amount €750, means 168 school children will be fed this year as part of the school feeding programme in Mbola (Village Supported in Tanzania) and ensure over 90% attendance rates at the school. Having visited the village on my cycle I've seen at first hand the great work that Millennium Promise are part of.
